I had the pleasure of dinning out at Tarragon on the last day of the Mastercard Restaurant week. The wait staff were so polite and made sure I was comfortable.
The homemade Brioche was like a piece of heavenly cloud in my mouth and paired with the herb and garlic butter made me want to not stop eating it! (I was offered more and I sheepishly had to decline).
For starters I had the most delicious and creamy tomato soup (garnished with fired basil), the chef informed me that the tomatoes and peppers were roasted which gave it a slightly smoky flavor.
For mains I had the steak fillet (medium rare). It turned out melt in your mouth delicious with a lovely char. This was paired with a delicious chilled glass of Douglas Green sweet red.
Just when I thought my palate couldn't take any more pleasure, I finished the evening with an apricot lava cake with creme anglaise topped with a slice of candied orange. The bitterness of the orange wonderfully offset the sweetness of the divine creme anglaise.
I had rather high expectations going in and was pleased to have those expectations exceeded. Will be back soon to try out more from the menu.
Very prompt service, and the waiter was very polite and helpful. My starter of sweet corn soup and spring rolls was delicious, really generous portions although the spring rolls were slightly over brown.
The mains of stir-fry beef and prawn fried rice was quite a disappointment. The stir-fry was a little salty and was a little overcooked same with the rice. For desert I had ice cream which was really bad, it looked like it was melted and frozen back again. Maybe it'was because it was a Monday but the food could have been a lot better.
Best sea food I've had in a long time. The catch of the day (cod I think), was incredibly fresh and flaky with a light but crispy batter. We had the share platter with chips. Very generous portions especially the salad starter, a lovely Mediterranean salad with lovely ripe tomatoes, cucumbers, olives and creamy feta cheese. Will advise you share it or you'll fill up before the the mains! And our cocktails were really nice and strong.
