Medici – October 2011

Although the Medici family ruled as royalty during the Italian Renaissance, they

left behind a name that is synonymous with opulence. The Medici Restaurant is no exception to this correlation. Hidden within a courtyard among the hustle of Lagos is home to our very own gourmet royalty. They have captured

the essence of what Medici stands for with their gourmet menu, their sophisticated yet playful décor and attention to detail. The concept behind Medici Restaurant is not only to ensure a fine dining experience, but to also create an atmosphere that you will enjoy all night.

The secret to fine dining is not only the perfect ambiance, or impeccable service, nor is it merely the presentation of the food. Simply put, the melt-in-your-mouth experience is what defines fine dining. Medici’s menu is possibly one of most satisfying and refined in Lagos. Yet, the evening doesn’t start with the food. The Veuve Clicquot champagne bar and lounge area invites you to start your evening with a little bubbly. Good food should not be rushed, and every step getting there should be as enjoyable as the food. Once you’ve enjoyed the stylish lounge you can regroup at your table and pour over the refined intercontinental menu, where choosing among the dishes is no simple task.

The mouthwatering dishes are the highlight of your evening. Perhaps you are tempted by the grilled succulent lamb chops perfectly paired with a parcel of grilled vegetables and roasted potatoes; or maybe a Cajun sole with a lightly spiced tomato salsa, creamy mashed potatoes and green beans, accompanied  by half a grilled lemon?

How about a tender pepper steak paired with vegetables in a port sauce, roasted potatoes and topped with crispy onion rings? And if that doesn’t tantalize your taste buds then the baked fresh fish with velvety mashed potatoes soaked in a delicate creamy saffron sauce, topped with fried zucchini and a bouquet of asparagus spears will entice you.

To leave a crumb behind would be nothing less than a crime. Yet the night doesn’t have to end there, the dinner may have concluded, but the digestion has only begun. Medici’s Saturday night dinner and dance duo means your evening is about to take off, and with a DJ playing the latest hits and club lights at the ready, your Saturday nights will take on a new meaning.
